Midnight Hour

This photo may not be as dramatic as some of the sunrise/sunset photos I've captured the past couple of years, but it is the brightest full moon in 18 years and it will be another 18 years before it happens again.  I shot this from our back deck, which means "through the trees".  Maybe I should have saved this one for Halloween.  Just sayin'.
So, now what do I do for an inspirational song this week. The past couple of weeks have been challenging.  There have been a couple of personnel issues at the office I have had to resolve.  That's what managers do.   I am in the process of having our website redesigned, looking into how we can use Twitter and Facebook as a part of our marketing effort, and developing the next mailer.  I'll start traveling in a couple of weeks and that will continue through the end of May.  Oh yeah, and I teach a Sunday School class each week.  It just seems like there is too much to do and too little time to get it done.  Something's gotta give.  Some days I just feel like I've been through the fire.  One thing about life,  God never promised it would be easy.  In fact, as Christians we are promised that there will be difficulties and rejection.  Anyone who tells you differently is not being honest with you, nor are they getting that information from God's word.  The one thing that God did promise His children is that He would always be there, even when we have to go "Through The Fire."  Just hold on!  Have a blessed week-end.

Technology Overload

My new header photo is something of a reflection of my life right now.  It seems that there are too many options, too many things to be done, and not enough time to do them.  I do love working on the computer and all of the things that are at my disposal.  Last week I added a first generation IPad to my arsenal of techno toys.  Since the IPad 2 was introduced, many retailers have begun discounting the first generation models.  I chose the 64gig with WiFi and no 3G.  I am almost always in a location with WiFi so the 3G option was not critical to me.  If I find that this new tech toy has as many uses as I think it might, I will probably request an IPad 2 with 3G at the office.
I do know one thing for sure, my Franklin Day Planner is toast!  I can keep my calendar on the IPad and it weighs about 2-3lbs less than my "Frankie".  I have downloaded Sketchbook Pro, but I'm not sure exactly what I will do with it.  I am now looking for presentation software, something that I can use similar to  PowerPoint for one on one meetings with clients.  If you have any suggestions, I am open.  It has been suggested that I download DropBox and use it for a number of different things.  I need to do a little more research before I commit to that.  I have downloaded EverNote.  Again, I'm not sure what I will do with it yet, but I am sure there are a multitude of things that I can do, with a little research and training.
Speaking of training, that seems to be the biggest problem in this Tech-age that we live.  My IPad apparently has a 181 page users manual...available online.  Virtually all of the downloads appear to have no real instructions.  They either expect you to figure it out, or ask a friend who has already become proficient with the program.  When a brother could use a little help, there is often none to be found.  I hate it when that happens.
I will say that the IPad is an impressive little device.  I am sure that I will find much more valuable things for it to do than play "Angry Birds".  Stay tuned for more from Driller's journey into IPad country.

Morning Revelation

Some mornings even God has a better than average day.  This photo was taken last week on my way to work.  It was around 7:40 a.m.  When the sun got behind the clouds, the results were spectacular.
The inspirational song this week comes from Phillips, Craig and Dean.  You guessed it...Revelation Song.

Ruby Tuesday and a Birthday Too!

Spring is finally here and baseball season is just around the corner.  The grandson starts practice this week, so I have brought out my Baseball Ruby Tuesday badge for the occasion.  Soccer season is in full swing and we have two more grandcrew involved.  The oldest is playing high school junior varsity while the youngest grand daughter is playing this year as well in a U10 league.  She's nine, so she is one of the youngest on the team.  That brings us to the Ruby Tuesday photo.
Obviously, the ref is the reason for the Ruby Tuesday, but No. 20 is the oldest grand daughter.  She used to be my favorite fourteen year old.  That was yesterday.  Today, she is my favorite fifteen year old!! Eight years ago No. 20 looked like this!
She's the one in the orange.  You've come a LONG way baby and Papa is more than proud of you!  So...Happy Birthday to my favorite fifteen year old!

Tonight we're going to see one of our favorite Southern Gospel groups, The Booth Brothers.  So, in honor of the occasion, it only seems fitting to feature them in this week's inspirational song.  Here they are singing "Testify".  Enjoy and have a blessed week-end.

You Light Up My Life

One of my favorite new artists in Christian music is Jeremy Camp. One of my favorite themes in all of scripture is that Jesus Saves. There are several inspirational songs with this theme as the primary message, but none say it any better than this number from Mr. Camp. Enjoy.

Just Passing Through
It had be overcast, misting and raining all day long.  Then around 4:00 p.m. the cold front finally moved through the area and brought the promise of clearer skies the following day.  This is the end of the day, sometime around 6:00 p.m.
Weather patterns come and go.  Here in the Southeast and Southwest, people will tell you, if you don't like this weather, just wait a couple of hours, It'll change again.  A couple of weeks ago we had 24" of snow on the ground.  A week later, it was 70 degrees and no snow to be found anywhere.  While we were distraught over the snow, our discomfort with the weather was only temporary.  Our journey through life is much the same as the weather.  This earth is our temporary home and we are destined to spend some of our days in sorrow.  Some of us will spend most of our lives in less than ideal conditions.  Many of us will have little control over some of our circumstances.  However, where we spend eternity is our choice.  For those who have called on the name of Jesus, there is a glorious home awaiting them.  Regardless of how life treats us, and how much discomfort we are asked to bear here, in this life, there is a home in Glory waiting for us.  And, just like the 24" of snow,  we will forget all about our temporary discomfort in this life when we rise to meet our Savior.  In an instant I will be in a place of Unclouded Days.  Enjoy.  Have a blessed week-end.

She Shoots, She Scores!!!

The high school soccer season started here yesterday.  Our oldest grand daughter is a freshman and made the jr. varsity this year.  For those of you who have followed this blog, you know that is a big deal.  Our high school plays in the highest classification (7A, although they're not really that big), and they have finished 1st or 2nd in the state three of the last four years.  "Scooter" has been plagued with a high ankle sprain since November, but it seems to be getting better now.  She will just have to have both ankles taped and wear a brace on the left one this season.  As a result, she has not been able to practice all of the time.  That means she is starting at the bottom of the roster...second team, junior varsity.
The game started at 4:00, so I was not able to attend.  I got a call about 6:00 from our daughter.  Our team jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first half, so the second team got to play most of the second half.  Scooter scored a goal!!!  Not only that, but she did it with a left footed shot!  That's what you call making the most of an opportunity.  Next week, they play at 5:30.  I will be there, on the front row, with the big lens camera.  There WILL be photos to share next week, I promise.

Game On!
