Sky High Skywatch

I was flying home from Miami Beach this week.  Just a few minutes before we landed, the plane flew through this cloud formation.  It is the first time that I have actually had my pocket camera handy.  It won't be the last time though.

Times like this remind me just how great God really is and how small I am.  I cannot begin to wrap my head around all that God is or why He does the things that He does.  I rest in the comfort of knowing that when I don't understand why bad things happen to good people, God has already told me, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways     For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:8-9).  We should not expect to understand or know the reason why everything happens.  We simply need to know, nothing happens that is a surprise to our Creator.  Although I love these clouds, there will come a day when all is clear.  That will be an unclouded day.  Have a wonderful week-end.

When the world give you a hundred reasons to cry, show the world that you have a thousand reasons to smile.

  5. Great clouds, It's good you had your camera!
You're quite right about not needing to understand everything God is and does. Someday it will all be clear!

  6. Well said. I don't think that we can even begin to conceive how God thinks. I get suspicious when I hear stuff like "surely God wouldn't'......" (fill in the blank) We need to worry about ourselves more.

  7. I used to wish I could jump out of the plane into those puffy pillow-like formations--they seemed so soft and fun. I was really disappointed to find out they wouldn't have held me had I been able to follow through on my dream!

As for God, His word says He is only good all the time, so we have to assume that the bad stuff in the world isn't His doing at all, but the result of man's sinful nature. If we are given a free will, then He can't interfere or it wouldn't be free.

It is much more comforting to me to believe He is always trying to protect us and lead us by still waters than to assume the more common viewpoint that He is able to do anything He wants here on earth, even violate His word, which is what He would have to do if He did all the stuff people accuse Him of.

God is Love, according to I John, and I don't see anything in the Corinthians "love is" passage to lead me to believe God could possibly do "bad" things. Just sayin'.

  11. Those are totally "awesome" clouds!! I, too, always feel pretty small when I am up in a plane and see how vast the world really is. I love your quote about the "thousand reasons to smile"--so true! Have a great weekend. Mickie :)
