Everything From A to Z
Last Saturday my wife and I took a one hour drive south to Alma, Arkansas. There is a business on the north edge of town that has everything from A to Z. In fact that is the name of the business. There is A to Z Sporting Goods, A to Z Gifts, A to Z Fashions, A to Z Furniture and A to Z Tools.
I have to admit, my favorite building was A to Z tools. Most of the merchandise was off brand, over-runs, discontinued items, or cheap imports, but there were bargains to be found for the knowledgeable shopper.
As you can see, this is a NO FRILLS shopping experience, but it does kill a hot afternoon in air conditioned comfort. This place makes Walmart look like Neiman Marcus!
I have to say that the Sporting Goods building offered the least number of true bargains. Much of the product in here was close to retail price. Still, it was an interesting place.
The Flowers & Gifts building was, by far the most colorful and is the building that housed the artificial Ruby Red sunflowers. I spent very little time in here, but there were some very good prices on back packs of all things.
So, if you're looking for something to do on a hot summer day, and live withing an hour of this place, it is a fun experience. I'm sure you have something similar in your area. What's your favorite dive place to kill time?
I don't shop at Wal*Mart, but this must be some place if it makes Wal*Mart look like Neiman Marcus. I've been to Neiman Marcus and I've never thought of Wal*Mart when I was there. Bwhahahahahaha.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific day. :)
I am almost relieved to know that the red sunflower is artificial. I looked at your post to find out where I could find seeds.
ReplyDeleteTo each his own, but I happen to like Walmarts. In our part of the country they are everywhere and seem to have everything we need. We are weekend explorers and when in a new place are always reassured to see a Walmart. It is a sure sign that the place is civilized.
I like places like this, the deals are always hard to beat. Of course, the buyer has to pick away to find what they are looking for. Of course, we don't know what we'll find, but will know it when we see it!
ReplyDeleteIn New England, the equivalent is the RI based Ocean State Job Lot. I like looking around and seeing what I can find from food to tools. A fun time always ensues!
You found some fabulous reds, Driller--especially the sunflowers! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI’M FOND OF CERISE
For red my affection is great,
It’s puce and chartreuse that I hate.
I’m fond of cerise,
It makes a nice piece
Of clothing that looks just first-rate.

I guess A to Z covers it all! Fun shots. Enjoy the day.
ReplyDeleteit's always fun when you have camera along and even the mundane is cheerful and colorful.
ReplyDeleteWell, ou really hit the jackpot with your reds this week. I have NEVER seen or heard of a red sunflower, but it sure is pretty. All I could manage was a post centered around my husband’s big hike which will begin tomorrow and this red back pack. Gotta get him on the train at 5:30in the morning for Vermont. UGH! Genie
ReplyDeleteHA! You crack me up. Walmart looks like Neiman Marcus. HA
