This past week-end there was a local festival. A part of the celebration included a car show. That's about the only excuse that I need to grab a camera and head down town. One of the cars on display is one that I photographed in the past. It is a red 1957 Chevy 2 door. The last time I photographed this car I made the Ruby Tuesday badge featured above from one of the photos. Few cars in American Automotive history are as recognizable as the '57 Chevy. Just the emblem in the badge above is all that most people need in order to know what the rest of the car looks like. Well, it looks like this.
Stay tuned, more cars to come in the following days. Happy Ruby Tuesday all.
Stay tuned. It's classic cars and street rods week at Driller's Place. I went to a local car show this past week-end and found several photo opportunities. The grille above is just the sneak preview. Check back tomorrow for more. See you then.
Our vacation was spent on the lake this year, same place as last year. This home is just across the cove from the resort where we were lodged. The weather was perfect. After experiencing several weeks of upper 90's and l02 100's, the temperature actually dropped into the lower 90's, even upper 80's during our stay.
This bluff is about a mile from our resort. I spent quite a bit of time, between 5:30 - 9:30 a.m. fishing this area each morning. Just in case you're wondering, the sun is not up at 5:30, but the fish are awake, if not always cooperative. This was my vacation within a vacation. At 5:30 a.m. I had the lake pretty much to myself. By 1:00 p.m. this area would be filled with pontoons and ski boats.
One of favorite Gospel groups is The Booth Brothers. This song is new
to me, and believe me, I've heard almost everything they have ever
recorded. Of all the things that I have to be thankful for, I am
reminded that the most precious gift that God has given me is the gift
of eternal life, through His son Jesus Christ. I am blessed with a
beautiful wife, a lovely family, a job, a home, and most things that
people associate with "The Good Life." However, none of that matters
without Christ. So, when you find a few moments, "Thank Him For The
Miracle.
For our family, vacation is all about the lake. We swim in it, fish in it, tube on it, kayak or paddle boat on it. From the day that we get to the resort, until the day we leave, most of our time is spent in the water, on the water or near the water. If we're not around the lake, you can find us around the pool. It's just the most enjoyable type of vacation ever. It's better than Disney World...and we've been there twice. Hope you had a great summer.
This is what happens at 6:00 p.m. when you get up at 5:00 a.m. to go fishing with Papa, get back to the resort by 9:00 a.m. for breakfast, hit the pool by 10:00 a.m., get some lunch and spend the afternoon tubing behind a boat. It's enough to wear a guy out.
It's been hot here...very hot. The afternoon high has been over 100 degrees for nearly two weeks now and it hasn't rained significantly in over a month. I needed a photo with a little cooler blue in it, but this still has a hot core at the horizon. I thought about trying to find a winter scene and see if that would cool me off. This photo was taken in January, but there was no snow on the ground at the time. Still, I know it was cooler then, than it is now.
Nothing makes me forget about the hot weather, or my troubles like Gospel music. Regardless of the weather, regardless of my circumstances, I can always look to heaven and say, "Glory to God in the Highest." Have a blessed week-end.
While the horses may be the stars at the Youth World Championship Palomino Show, there is no shortage of "Bling" on the riders.
Many of these outfits retail in the low four figures. And you thought being a soccer parent was expensive.
Attention to detail is just a part of the show. The saddle, the blanket, the rider's outfit should compliment the horse and make the rider and the horse look like a complete package. You would have to be there in person to see what I mean.
Like dance, this sport is dominated by women. There are a few guys in the competition, and they usually do very well, but I'm guessing most of the guys are more interested in rodeo than showmanship.
Like I said in an earlier post, we had a wonderful time in Tulsa and I took a boat load of photos. I'm beginning to think that I like this event photography stuff. I just have to figure it out. I'm looking forward to next year, because I already know where I want to set up my camera.
