Skywatch Friday

There are few things in this life that are more enjoyable than a perfect spring evening at the old ball park.  There is just something special about baseball under the light at night.  I can still remember when I played my first game under the lights.  We thought that we had finally arrived as players when we got to play night games.

Under perfectly clear skies, and temperature in the mid 70's, my wife and I took the grandson and one of his friends to see the Arkansas Razorbacks play the Missouri State Bears at Baum stadium in Fayetteville.  This is a great stadium to watch baseball.  There is not really a bad seat in the house and the place is spotless.  First things first.

The grandson is on the left.  Both boys were sporting their Razorback hats.  Ya gotta have your picture taken with "Tusk" the Razorback mascot.  Then it was off to purchase hot dogs!  I will say, while the tickets for the game were very reasonable, the concessions were on the pricey side.

The Razorbacks won 6-3.  They are currently ranked 14th in the country and are hoping to host a regional tournament in the College World Series.  They have made it to the regional tournament every year since 2002 and have been to the College World Series three times in that period.  This looks to be another promising year for a trip to Omaha.

While the sky was perfect, the weather was flawless, and the Razorbacks were victorious, the best thing about the whole evening was spending time with the kids.  Whether they will admit it or not, kids like being around their parents and grand parents.  Relationships are built one event at a time.  Memories are made, one event at a time.  One day these memories will be priceless, because the kids just grow up too fast.  We have a 17 year old grand daughter that is proof of that.  Have a blessed week-end.

P.S.
Over at Yogi's Den, he mentioned his love of construction equipment.  Yogi indicated that if he were independently wealthy (a gazillion dollars) he would buy a back hoe so he could dig holes and cover them up again.  Well, I share his love of construction equipment but I thought I would prefer a Bobcat front-end loader on tracks.  Then I saw this.

Man, could I ever do some serious landscaping with this machine. Again, have a blessed week-end.

  1. How fun. I used to attend the ball games in Oakland all the time and then I didn't anymore. It's fun to go to a night game indeed. Spending time with the grandson is a great thing too.

Love both videos. What does your wife think about having that last toy to landscape with? I thought so.

    Have a terrific day. ☺

  4. I'm with you on baseball and it struck me that I have never once seen a college baseball game and we live within a few miles of ORU which has such a team and a nice stadium.
I think you hit the nail on the head with kids, they want to spend time with their parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. I had lots of aunts and uncles who were very nice to me. I only saw my Grandparents less than ten times in my life. They lived in Connecticut and we lived in the mountain west.
    You are a blessed man.

Thanks for the shoutout Driller. I would still get the tracked backhoe but I love your new find. The articulated design is a must.
Back in my construction days I loved to see what talented equipment operators could do with their machines.
