Ruby Tuesday

March Madness
(High School Style)

Last week I went to the High School state basketball play-offs.  There is always red to be found there and there is never a shortage of "Bow-heads".  The look on this cheerleaders face is "The Agony of Defeat".
Our team won 77-59.
The first game tipped off at 2:30.  The games alternated between boys and girls games.  Since our girls team was the second game of the day and our boys team was the last game of the evening, we were there for about eight hours.  It was great fun.

There is no lack of pageantry at the play-offs.  Every team brings their pep squad and cheerleaders.  You also get to see a lot of colors.  My high school alma mater's school colors were Kelly Green and White, so I just had to include this group in the post.  No, this is not my alma mater, but I love the colors.

Everybody has their "Game Face" on.  There is no lack of intensity at any of these match-ups.

There was no lack of action from any of the the teams either.  I am positive that I got to see a few young men and women that will be playing this game when they get to college.

If you haven't been to a high school tournament, do yourself a favor and make your way to one the next time you get a chance.  It's way more fun than sitting at home, and it's cheaper than a movie...$6.00 admission and I saw five games in eight hours.  It just doesn't get any better than that.  Later this week the outdoor track season begins and I have a grand daughter competing in a couple of events.  Guess what you're going to get to see very soon.

  4. The HS playoffs are on in Connecticut too - conference tournaments. You have to feel that there is a pure love for the game which seems lacking in the big time college and pro game. Determination, delight and despair are on the floor and sidelines. The cheerleader looks as if the end of the season is nigh - the excitement of a season well played is now at a close. Great pictures!
