Awe...some Monday - Winter Ball

Yes, February is supposed to be the middle of winter, but this past week-end it was sunny and 70 degrees in Northwest Arkansas. There was a Division II college softball tournament in town, so I headed out to the old ball park for a couple of hours Saturday to capture a little of the color and energy of the game.

I like fast-pitch softball. Everything is closer in softball, so the game moves quicker and you have to have your head in the game at all times. A runner is not allowed to leave the base before the pitch, but they can be moving as soon as the pitch leaves the pitcher's hand.

Good fielding skills are essential in softball and everything seems to happen quicker than baseball. Did I mention that the uniforms have gotten much more colorful over the years. If you're looking for a cheap entertaining afternoon or evening, take in a high school or college game. You won't be disappointed. Have a blessed week.

  2. Great pics. We got acquainted with women's softball via a young relative of Heather's. She was featurd in Sports Illustrated once and the teams she played on were at a very high level and they were very serious about what they were doing. Her focus and commitment have served her well in a subsequent nursing career. I loved watching her play.
