Last week we spent three days in Branson, MO. It is a short 2hr drive from the house and is one of the places that we visit several times each year. We went to spend a few days near the lake and I intended to photograph some fall foliage. Well, the weather turned cold, the sky turned gray and I only got a few images of the Autumn colors. We did visit an automobile and farm machinery museum. I fell in love. I have always been a fan of Mustangs, Camaros, and muscle cars in general, but while walking down one of the aisles I spotted these two beauties.
These are 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Barritz convertibles. They are big, bold and beautiful. I am sure that many of today's automobile designers are envious of the freedom that the designers in the 50's and 60's enjoyed. These motorized parade floats were the symbols of the jet age, space age, and freedom of the open road brought about by the interstate highway system.
Cadillac was the epitome of luxury, style and comfort in automotive design. Mercedes, Jaguar, and even Rolls Royce paled in comparison to the luxury of the Caddy and the Eldorado Barritz was the absolute top of the line. These classics now command six figures from prospective buyers. One look at these land yachts and the only word that comes to mind is ...AWESOME!!! Have a blessed week.
My mother loved Cadillac's. I hated those tails though. I thought they were over the top. I still do.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous AWEsome day. ☺
This is the only car I have seen that the fins blend seamlessly into the design.
DeleteAmazing vintage cars and great shots!

I LOVE the designs that came out of the 50's & 60's.
DeleteWhen you bought one, you weren't just buying a car, you were buying a dream.
ReplyDeleteThese cars were your statement to the world that you were living the dream.
DeleteYou look at Caddies today and they look like every other bubble car on the road.
ReplyDeleteSad, but true. These land yachts were unique to anything else that GM was producing. Not even the engines were shared with other brands.
DeleteOooo, cool looking cars! What a fun place to visit!
ReplyDeleteVery fun place to visit.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, what a terrific place to visit! I love classic cars! Our oldest daughter works for an insurance company that insures classic cars and she gets to talk to customers all the time with really cool cars. My neighbors have a really cool and really vintage car. I am not sure about the details but it is from a really really long time ago. SO beautiful too. A lot of them are famous too. Hee Hee ! I am so glad I stopped by and thank you for the comment at my blog. I enjoy this so much more than all the meanness at social media. Have a great week! Blessings to you and yours.
