Season Opener

Opening day of little league season.  4 hits, 3 runs scored, and 3 unassisted put-outs at first base.  It was a good day at the old ball park.  This year, we're the White Sox.

Some mornings the sky seems to be on fire.  I'm never quite sure if it means that I'm supposed to set my world on fire that day, or if I'm going to be tried by fire the rest of the day.  Either way, I need to be ready.  One thing is for sure, if I must walk through a trial of fire, God will be there with me.  He promised.  He didn't promise it would be easy, nor did he promise he would deliver me according to my desires and schedule.  He promised to use me to do His will in His time frame.  I need to learn to be a little more comfortable with that concept.  Have a blessed week-end.

Just looking through some of the archives and I found this capture of the youngest granddaughter from almost four years ago.  They do grow up too fast.  I selected this one because the bow is red.  That is a package of BBQ Doritos at the bottom of the photo, which helps justify a Ruby Tuesday entry.  See ya tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

Hole In The Sky

Whenever someone we know and love passes away, it leave a hole in our world.  We miss their smile.  We miss seeing them involved in different activities.  We just miss them.  For the Christian, we can take comfort in the fact that the deceased is in a far better place.  While we may mourn their loss in this world, we have the assurance that we will see them again and rejoice in a place that our Savior has prepared for us.
The song this week isn't so much inspirational as it is fitting to the photo.  It was written and recorded by The Eagles in response to the events surrounding 9-11.  .

While there may be some holes in our world as a result of passing of a loved one, for the Christian there are tears of sorrow and tears of joy. For we know that passing from this life is merely the process by which we pass into eternal life. The apostle Paul reminded us that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Savior. There Ain't No Grave, Can Hold This Body Down. Have a blessed week-end.

March Madness

Mr. March Madness

Once you're through laughing at Mr. March Madness, you can read my brackets and get another chuckle.  I found Mr. Madness at a local flea market.  He's still there.  I found the bracket online.  I probably should have left it there.

I have no idea how I wound up with three big 12 teams is the Final Four.  I just think that Kentucky and North Carolina will fall and I think it will be Big 12 teams that will take them down.  I haven't filled out a bracket in several years.  In a few days you will probably be able to see why I shouldn't be trusted with a bracket.  If I have your favorite team going out long before you think they should, sorry, I meant no harm.  Since my teams are Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Tulsa, I don't have a team in the tourney this year.  The closest thing I have to a favorite is Missouri.  I hope your team does well.  Let the games begin!

Ruby Tuesday

Recently my wife needed to make a trip to a local store to purchase some silk flowers for a project that she was working on.  The store is called "Oops!"  As the name implies, it is filled with overstock, discontinued, and some rather odd merchandise that obviously didn't sell in other stores.  Last year I took you on a tour of the A to Z store, that was actually five buildings.  "Oops!" is a scaled down version of "A to Z".  While wandering the aisles, I found these little guys.  I almost always have a small digital camera with me, for just such occasions, so here is what I found.
I'm not exactly sure if these are supposed to be happy little Gnomes or Santa's Elves.  Since they don't have pointy ears, I'm going with Gnomes.  I picked them for Ruby Tuesday because they were all wearing red hats.

Generally speaking, I'm not a Gnome fan.  They can be a little like clowns and creep you out.  But these little guys seemed harmless enough and willing to pose for me.

I think this one is named Noah, because he seems to building an ark.

Noah just might make a good Ruby Tuesday badge one of these days.  What do  you think?  See you  tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

End of Day

Like most people, I look forward to the drive home from work each day.  The difference is, that my drive is actually very pleasant.  Living in a relatively rural area, I don't have to fight the traffic that many of you face each afternoon.  When the sunset looks like this, I have a place that I can drive to and capture the image for everyone to enjoy.  Lately I have been reminded that I am entering my own sunset.  Even under the best of circumstances and good health, I have already lived two thirds of my life.  In the past week two friends have lost their spouses.  It is a sobering reminder that life is short, death is certain, and eternity is sure.  While this body is a temporary home and has a finite existence, the soul is eternal.  We will spend eternity somewhere.  Based on the decision of what to do with the person of Jesus Christ, our place in eternity is determined.  Christ said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me". (John 14:6).  Further, He told us "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."(John 3:16)  Perhaps most importantly, we are told, "He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:18).  The question is, where will you spend eternity.  Tonight, two people that I know are resting in the arms of their Savior.  Their time on earth is done.  They can "Go Rest High On That Mountain".  Have a blessed week-end.

Red Sky in the Morning, Sailor Take Warning

Most of us end our day by watching the local weather forecast on television.  Some of us pay close attention to the information, because we have special plans for the next day and the weatherman is about to tell us if our plans need to change, or if we are good to go.  We dress according to what the weatherman tells us is going to happen.  We may even try to plan a few days ahead, although that is not necessarily a good idea in this part of the country.  We like to know what the future holds so that we can make the appropriate plans.  We can do that with the weather, however life would seem to be much more difficult to plan our future.  Not really.  God gave us a book, that not only tells us how to conduct our lives, but tells us the outcome.  "For God so loves the world that He gave His only begotten Son, and whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but will have everlasting life."  This is the future that awaits anyone who will accept Christ as their personal savior.
The inspirational song this week comes from the hymns of the church.  There is great truth in these old songs.  There is a message of hope, salvation, joy and great blessing.
We know that regardless of life circumstances and no matter what path we are required to travel, for the Christian there will come a day when we will have "Victory in Jesus". Enjoy.
