Clearing to the West

We can begin to see the clearing of some of the clutter in our lives.  We've spent a good deal of the past six months taking care of  Dad's affairs, after his passing.  His affairs were actually in pretty good order, it just takes time to deal with the details.  Last week there was an estate sale and now the house is on the market.  That will close the largest chapter in the events following Dad's death.  I honestly could not have gotten through any of this without my wife.  Her understanding of financial issues and her organizational skills kept me sane.  Without her, I would have been LOST.  Thank you Lord, for the gift of a wife that you have blessed me with.
Next Friday we will take in night one of the new Brumley Music Fest in Bentonville, AR.  One of the groups appearing will be the Dove Brothers.  They are a pretty traditional Southern Gospel Quartet.  That's okay with me.  Here is a sample of their work.  enjoy.

Ruby Tuesday

June 6, 2004 - Age 2 1/2

May 1, 2010 - Age 8 1/2

"Big Blue" (look at those eyes) has been the subject of Ruby Tuesday in the past.  She seems to get prettier each year.  We are blessed to have happy, healthy grand kids.  They are just the best.

Skywatch Friday Thoughts

 After the Storm Passes

It seems I've been to busy to have a Friday thought lately.  Hopefully that will change soon.  Spring is here and there is much to do around the house.  I've got a landscape project left over from last summer that I need to complete.  I need to reorganize the stuff in the workshop.  I need a vacation.  I guess the vacation will have to wait.
Last week we did go to Tulsa to see one of our favorite Southern Gospel quartets, Signature Sound.  Earlier this week I found out that there will be a two night concert here later this month.  I got tickets for the Friday night concert, which brings me to the inspirational song or songs this week.  A couple of the groups that will be here are Brian Free and Assurance as well as Karen Peck and New River.  We saw both groups at the National Quartet Convention last September.  Here is a sample of their work for your enjoyment.  Have a great week-end.

Friday Thoughts

This past week my wife and I were watching the Academy of Country Music Awards.  Carrie Underwood sang her newest release "Temporary Home".  We should all be reminded that this world is only our temporary home.  God created us, breathed life into us and placed us here with a plan for our lives.  We have the free will to seek His face and obey his will for our lives, or go our own way.  The choice is ours.  For those of us who call the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, this temporary home is only the beginning of the abundant life.  That life begins when we acknowledge our sinful behavior and our need for salvation.  We realize that Jesus Christ is indeed the only Son of the Living God and we ask for forgiveness and invite Christ into our lives and our hearts. For Christ said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me."  John 14:6 At that moment we are changed.  Changed into new creatures.
We are all going to spend eternity somewhere.  We will either spend eternity separated from God, without hope, without salvation, and without anything other than eternal torment.  Or, we will spend eternity in the presence of the Living God, singing His praises, rejoicing in His salvation.  We will spend it in a place that He has prepared just for us.  Christ said, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also."  John 14:1-3
So, with that said, I give you Carrie Underwood, "Temporary Home."  Enjoy

If You're In The Area

Ernie Haase and Signature Sound will be at First Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK this Friday night.  My wife and I will be there for sure.  It will be a wonderful evening of worship and music. The concert starts at 7:30 sharp. Be there.
