I am interested in doing some portrait work. I will probably get the opportunity to photograph the oldest grand daughter for some of her senior portraits. One of the keys to a great portrait is an interesting background, even if you intend to blur it in the photo. This structure is located about two miles from our house, but I will have to get the owners permission to use it as part of a photo shoot, since it is posted. There are several great locations within this frame for a portrait, including the fireplace in the back left side of the structure. I think this is going to make a great background.
I spotted this spotted chair at a local craft fair this week-end. I was fearful that this category might be the most difficult to fill, but I think this will work, don't you?
Here is one for the record books. We have NEVER had snow in Arkansas, in May, as long as weather data has been collected in the state. On Tuesday I was sitting in the stands at the Arkansas baseball game in 75 degree weather. Thursday night the temperature dropped into the 30's and we got nearly an inch of snow. Friday morning we got another dusting, There is just something wrong about that. Really, there is.
As soon as I saw "Motion" as a cue, I knew where I was headed. Thursday, the state high school championship track meet was held at the local high school. I knew I would find plenty of motion there. Of course I wasn't planning on 40 degree temperatures, wind, and spitting rain. The conditions were miserable, but I managed this capture of one of the competitors in the long jump.
For me, no trip to Cracker Barrel is complete without purchasing a bag, or two, of Bob's Old Timey Pepermint Candy, pure sugar sticks. That's it for this week. Have a blessed Sunday and I'll see you again next week.
Great collection of shots, My favorite is your background. That place is made for portraits.ReplyDelete
Love the motion shot! Background is gorgeous, too!ReplyDelete
Great shots - those peppermint sticks are my absolute favorites!ReplyDelete

I think that back drop will be amazing for your senior grand daughter. I'll be no one else will have it in theirs!ReplyDelete
Sorry about the snow-we were supposed to get it, but it stalled out over the big Lake & we stayed warm & sunny.
How I would love to find a background like that - a perfect location for your portraits. Your motion shot is great.ReplyDelete

Also - forgot to mention the snow. It's hard to imagine snow here in Sydney. We are just coming out of one of the most wonderful and long summers I can remember. Not too hot, just right. However, I look at all these snow photos from you northern hemisphere bloggers and I am just a tiny bit envious ...ReplyDelete
